Moving Forward: Who Do You Choose To Be?

by | Mar 24, 2024 | Communication, Emotional Intelligence, Events, Influence, Listening

These chaotic times call for us to show up as the best versions of ourselves. We need to be clear, resilient, kind, and on purpose. And how do we do that?

  • Determine what thriving is for us
  • Release patterns that no longer serve
  • Practice compassionate communication

Whether we are facing personal challenges or just attempting to stay on track through economic, climate, and political upheavals around us, we do better when we are conscious of our intentions and our actions.

Various sources are all pointing to even greater change ahead. Whoa, you say, can it be? Yes, it will be, and it is up to us to create what some are calling “Islands of Sanity,” and others are calling “Islands of Coherence.” Seeing (and feeling) ourselves as connected with all living systems can take us out of deep frustration and even despair. We recognize that there are cycles to everything alive.

We understand that whatever we do and even how we are create ripples. We can set our intentions and then we need to learn how to bring them into reality. We want to be kind, and then we get annoyed by someone, and we are unkind. We want to be acting on our purposes, and then we get lost in worries or crises or social media. We say we want to be a good listener and then we find ourselves interrupting.

It takes both intention and attention to change habitual patterns of behavior and to become aware of the greater field of our interactions.

There are deep sources of power within each of us and even more so in our network of human and natural connections. Rather than learning formulas or putting ourselves into categories, we are called to be better observers, better nurturers of ourselves and others, and more willing participants in community.

With this message, I invite you to take stock of where you are and what growth steps you are taking to be more prepared and more centered. I encourage you to expand the qualities you value most. I ask you to be an active member of your communities and even expand to participate in new ones that call to you.

Each of us has important roles to play in creating the world to which we want to belong – personally and societally. I’m counting on your active involvement because you are needed.

With love and appreciation,

—Lucy
